Types of Actuators

Compact Actuator and Controls

LEDEEN HS and CP compact actuators—some of the smallest actuators available on the market—save valuable space on a production platform or FPSO vessel when installing automated valve packages within the piping system.

Ideal solutions for space-constrained installations
Unlike conventional scotch yoke actuators, LEDEEN compact actuator profiles are concentric with the valve stem, reducing the required installation space and enabling alternative piping options.

Application-specific torque mechanism
LEDEEN actuators have two different torque mechanisms available, enabling the most appropriate mechanism to be utilized for maximum efficiency.

For high-pressure hydraulic applications, a small helical spline mechanism is used with a small piston diameter to generate high torque outputs.
For low-pressure pneumatic applications, the larger helical slot mechanism is combined with a larger piston diameter to generate an equivalent torque output.

Quarter-Turn

Typical application: Quarter-turn hydraulic actuators are used for on/off or modulating control of any ball, plug, or butterfly valve utilizing hydraulic actuator supply.

Linear

Typical application: Linear hydraulic actuators are used for on/off or modulating control of any gate valve or rising stem ball valve utilizing a hydraulic actuator supply.

Quarter-Turn

Typical application: Quarter-turn pneumatic actuators are used for on/off or modulating control of any ball, plug, or butterfly valve utilizing compressed air, natural gas, or nitrogen actuator supply.

Linear

Typical application: Linear pneumatic actuators are used for on/off or modulating control of any gate valve or rising stem ball valve utilizing compressed air, natural gas, or nitrogen actuator supply.

System Integration

The integration of the LEDEEN electric actuators into a control system is possible via a multitude of fieldbus connections or via a free-configurable, hard-wired interface. All fieldbus devices can be delivered with the common redundancies, to help enhance system safety and reliability.

SIMA Master Station

System Integration -The SIMA master station solution integrates field devices, like actuators, into an automation environment and supports a variety of protocols such as PROFIBUS DP and Modbus RTU.
Data Concentrator – In addition to the essential feedback information, our LEDEEN DiM series electric actuators provide a wide variety of data that can be used by the SIMA master station to quickly and easily diagnose the system with reduced stressing.
Commissioning Tool – SIMA also functions as a standalone automation system, allowing the actuator to be operated and commissioned autonomously from a higher automation system. Actuator and communication parameter settings can be performed and tested.
Redundant Security – To allow for enhanced safety operations, the SIMA master station has been designed as a highly redundant unit with both the master unit and the cables being redundant in case of a failure.

 

Subsea Actuators and Controls

LEDEEN hydraulic subsea actuators are specifically designed for shallow-water and deepwater applications. Both actuator types, shallow-water and deepwater series, can operate with a supply pressure up to 3000 psig (207 barg).

Gas-Over-Oil Actuators and Controls

Typical application: Quarter-turn gas-over-oil actuators are used for on/off control of any natural gas transmission ball or plug valve utilizing a high-pressure natural gas or nitrogen actuator supply.

Linear

Typical application: Linear gas-over-oil actuators are used for on/off control of any natural gas transmission gate valve utilizing a high-pressure natural gas or nitrogen actuator supply.

Self-Contained Control Systems
